Successful Test for PK Carsport

Corvette Motorsport kicked off its official start of the 2009 season at the Paul Ricard test circuit in Southern France. Mike Hezemans and Anthony Kumpen drove their first laps of the season in the Corvette C6.R of PK Carsport.

For Anthony Kumpen it was a joyful return to the car in which he scored most of his successes in the past. “It immediately felt comfortable, like coming home," Anthony Kumpen says smiling. “We have been able to complete our full scheduled programme without a single problem, quite the opposite of what happened last year. On Monday we have mainly focused on tyres, on Tuesday we did long runs and worked on the set-up."

Vice FIA GT champion Mike Hezemans looks back satisfied. “It went quite well," Mike starts. “On all tyres we used we went quite fast, although I must admit we did not try to set the fastest time. In a test session like this all that matters is testing things, whoever is fastest doesn’t matter. To start the season well prepared, that is the target. That is what these kind of practice sessions are for."

Anthony confirms this. “We’re not really interested in the times in such a test session, because you don’t know the setup our opponents are running. It is positive though that we were in the top 3 continuously. Other tests have not been planned; we’re now looking forward to the start of the season at Silverstone in early May. The aim there is clear. The podium and preferably as high as possible," concludes Anthony Kumpen.

“It was nice to work with Anthony again," says Mike Hezemans. “It worked well immediately. Anthony needed some time to get used to the Corvette again, but it didn’t take that long. Look, we’re both fast. It could well be a nice season."
